So you have decided to
become a network engineer. But how do you get there? As in any other career,
you need to climb the steps of the ladder to get to the top (in this case, a
network engineer).
The first step is to get qualified. At CTU you can get an international vendor specific (Microsoft, CISCO or CompTIA) certification, as well as a national qualification. For more information on our Full Time network engineering programmes, visit www.ctucareer.co.za for a complete breakdown or for part time, visit www.ctucorp.co.za.
The next step will be to gain useful hands-on experience. This is crucial to have when you start looking for a job. CTU’s programmes are updated regularly to keep up to date with what is used in the workplace. Through our workplace experience programme the student will gain a better understanding of the specific study field’s business environment through field trips, corporate visits and internships during the year.
After getting certified and gaining experience, you will have to get a job. This is where CTURecruits come in. They will assist you with interview and CV preparation, as well as finding a job (terms and conditions apply).
Keep in mind that you will likely get an entry-level job, but this is advantageous in the long run as you will gain more experience.
The last step to take is to better your soft skills that will help you in interviews, at work and to get that promotion you have been eyeing. These include communication and negotiation skills, time management, professionalism, team work and problem solving.
By following these
steps you are guaranteed to be a great network engineer!
