Seven CTU second year Graphic Design students will be going to Sunne in
Sweden from 19 September 2014 to 13 October 2014. This exchange programme was
organised in partnership with SG/Broby and is funded by the Swedish Department
of Education.
SG/Broby
specialises in print and packaging design and production. They were founded in
1992 in conjunction with Tetra Pak and describe themselves as a small school
with great opportunities.
The students, four from Port Elizabeth and three from Pretoria, were
selected after submitting motivational letters, portfolios and undergoing
interviews. The students will be accompanied by two of CTU’s facilitators.
CTU specialises in full time and part time IT, design and business
studies. The full time Graphic Design programme is a one year programme with an
option to specialise in a second year. SG/Broby selected CTU because our
vocational training closely matches their offering.
The students will have the opportunity to learn
advanced first world printing practice, earth stewardship, responsible design
and printing practices, as well as make contact and learn from a new and
exciting culture at the forefront of design and printing.
The students are very excited and can’t wait to see new cultures, meet
new people and have the design experience of their lives.
Since it is an exchange
programme, the selected Swedish students will be accommodated at our Port
Elizabeth campus in February 2015. CTU work in partnership
with design agencies and printing houses in Port Elizabeth, so the Swedish students
will get exposed to how design and printing work in South Africa.
