Testimonials:
Thanks for a good course. I think Technology-Led Training, NIL’s virtual classroom, is a good opportunity to have [a great] learning experience. There were no problems with the TelePresence system, WebEx or anything else related to seeing or hearing the class! Also labs were working technically okay, no problems.

Of course, a virtual classroom takes more effort from the instructor and students, because you cannot just draw everything on the whiteboard. Therefore students are just sitting and waiting to see the presentation and solutions. Students must be more willing to ask [questions] and be able to present their opinions. In our course we had some really good chats, which resolved most of the issues. [The] only thing I missed a little was the whiteboard over at this end of the line.

Overall this was a hard and long course, but I felt good after class. Thanks to instructor Tilen Mlakar!!

Veli-Matti Järveläinen, Elisa

I admit that I had concerns about a class led by an instructor located on the other side of the world. I felt that learning at such a distance wouldn’t fit with my social and communicative character, and I doubted that I could follow the class.

How wrong I was! I found out quickly that NIL’s Technology-Led Training (TLT) has one very clear advantage, especially for this particular class: the training mostly consists of studying on your own under mentor supervision. TLT has this interesting duality: on one hand, you’re in NIL’s calm and comfortable classroom, which enables you to focus on solving the difficult problems that are part of CIERS-1 training; on the other hand, you’re also part of a dynamic, knowledge-thirsty group that wants the maximum from the instructor – we ask for additional explanations, share our experiences and ideas.

Technology does its job here. I must think carefully before asking a question, and I have to ask succinctly. The instructor explains things systematically. There’s little space for simplifications and waving hands. Meanwhile, students don’t interrupt each other. We listen closely and express clearly. Our words have greater value, and we absorb information with deeper focus. The lack of physical contact spontaneously brings out of us what is many times forgotten or ignored in typical classroom training: focus, concentration, accuracy and efficiency.

NIL convinced me that TLT is a mature training platform. It demands a highly competent instructor with very good communications skills – and NIL has a whole team of them.

Matjaž Straus Istenič, Network Expert, Arnes

I was really happy to take this course with NIL. The intensive five-day SPNGN bootcamp promised crucial skills to operate and support a Service Provider network, and this was exactly what we got.

The instructor, Gregor Koščak, has a deep understanding of the topic, and he talks in a very clear and interesting way. I was attending the course via Technology-Led Training (TLT) directly from my office, and I could easily follow the instructor and participate in lab [exercises], while saving a lot on travel costs and accommodations.

Especially I would stress the access to the remote labs environment—that is the best [remote training solution] I have ever experienced. Thanks!
