One
of the most anticipated CTU events of the year, the grand opening of the CTU Centre
of Excellence: Pretoria, took place on 1 October 2013.
Upon arrival refreshments were served
to the partners, clients and CTU
staff waiting at entrance for the anticipated unveiling. Human Resource
Development Director, Dawn Ngcobo acted as MC for the night and did a splendid
job in welcoming all the guests and announcing the events of the evening.
Mteto
Nyati, managing director of Microsoft SA, inspired all with his insightful
speech honouring CTU for all the hard work and contributions done. He went on to comment on how connected CTU
is, how CTU functions as a family and that this has been our most important
foundation for success, how we always know what our customers want and how well
CTU as a company partner with others to offer the best solutions.
CTU
CEO, Ronald Meeske’s speech started out with CTU’s humble beginnings. He then
spoke about where we are now, the reasoning behind the Centre of Excellence and
what the future holds for CTU. According to him the Centre of Excellence “was born out of a
vision as to where IT training is going at the moment. It is to create a new
experience for people in IT training; it is about the experience they obtain.
It also encapsulates a place where high level computer training takes place at
the scarce and critical skills levels”. Exciting times lie ahead.
As
the speeches were concluded, Mteto officiated the opening by cutting the red
ribbon and unveiling the CTU plaque. All the guests went on escorted tours
through the Centre of Excellence. A sneak peek inside the building reveals 19
training rooms, a 40 seat testing centre, a boardroom, four to five
interviewing rooms to mention but a few, but at any given day, this building
will be hosting 400 students and corporate clients to be trained. Afterwards
a lucky draw took place with Roelof de Bruyn as the prize winner.
