On the 20 February 2012 CTU Training Solutions
started with a roll out to train the South African Police Service detectives on
a “Train the Trainer" programme which would enable the detectives to go
back into their work place and train their colleagues in digital literacy.
20 detectives from all over the country attended a
20-day training programme which covered Digital Literacy, Microsoft Word, Excel
and Outlook, and a train the trainer programme. They were all very enthusiastic
and committed to successfully completing the course. It was an intense 20 days
of facilitator-led training and all delegates completed it successfully and
obtained international certification in all 3 Microsoft courses.
On 16 March the course was concluded with a
graduation ceremony which was hosted by CTU Training Solutions in conjunction
with Microsoft. The delegates were addressed by Brigadier Sydney Moshabi from
the South African Police Service as well as Viz Naidoo and Sharon Oosterberg
from Microsoft, whom respectively stressed the importance of computer literacy
and certification within all sectors of our population within South Africa.
Due to
the success of the roll out, CTU Training Solutions continues with further
training for 1056 detectives nationwide that will start attending as from 1
April 2012 at CTU branches nationwide. Here the focus is on up-skilling SAPS
detectives on Digital Literacy, using Microsoft Curriculum at 9 of the 14
training centres nationally, and utilizing the CTU Mobile Lab unit for
Kimberley and Upington.
